Kevin W. Holmes, 60, of Charleston, WV, departed this life at home due to multiple health problems, on October 7, 2024. He was a graduate of Sissonville High School (Class of 1982), and a graduate of Ben Franklin Career Center in 2000, where he received his Senior Certified Welder Inspection Certification. He was employed for several years at the South Charleston Stamping Plant before his illness. He was a highly skilled hunter and fisherman. His favorite pastime when he was still capable, was hunting at his Papaw Skeens' farm in Roane County.
Few people were aware of his talent to draw and sketch. He was very crafty and would often create small scale models of houses and numerous other keepsakes he would give to his mother and friends. For the last three years he collected NASCAR accessories and Trading Cards for Major League Baseball. He was an excellent cook and loved working in his small garden before his health would no longer permit.
Born November 21, 1963, he was the son of the late Lennis (Buddy) Holmes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Albert and Estella Holmes; and Everett and Freda Skeens. Also deceased, his cousin, Joshua Mobley and Aunt Aretta Kiser.
Survivors include his mother, Judy Holmes, Russell, of Charleston WV. ; Children, Justin Holmes (Leona) of Charleston WV; Kevonna (Aaron) of Concord, NC; sister, Kelly Catlett of Dunbar, WV; brother, Jason Russell of Winfield, WV. ; also surviving, his Aunt Joy Childers (Buddy) of Dunbar, WV; Uncle James Skeens (Mary) of Charleston, WV; Uncle Jack Skeens (JoAnn) of Scott Depot, WV. ; Uncle Kenneth Holmes, Uncle Ronald Holmes, and Aunt Elizabeth Bostic.
Grandchildren, Tucker, Kameron, and Aria.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington St. Charleston, WV 25302, with Rev. Donald Kiser officiating.
Visitation 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Per Kevin's wishes he will be cremated and there will be no graveside service.
