IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Grant
Robinson
November 12, 1942 – September 16, 2025
Kenneth Grant Robinson (Kenny, PawPaw) beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed peacefully September 16, 2025, at the age of 82 years old. He is missed dearly by family and friends.
Kenny was born at home in North Charleston on November 12, 1942, to Bernard and Dorothy Robinson.
Kenny attended Stonewall Jackson High School, Morris Harvey College finishing college at Belhaven University with his Bachelor of Arts degree. Kenny graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi with a Master of Divinity.
Throughout his life, Kenny devoted himself to ministry, serving churches in Bristol, TN/VA, Palmer Children's Home, Columbus, MS, Tamassee Children's Home in SC and the Middle East Reformed Fellowship. In 1989, he began preaching at Faith Reformed Fellowship Church in Fairmont, WV where he was installed as a pastor in 1990. After the church reorganized as Christ Community Church, he faithfully led until retiring due to blindness in 2002
Dayspring Camp and Conference Center - Kenny had long dreamed of having a camp and conference center that could help children, widows and those on fixed incomes. After moving to Fairmont, and as pastor of Faith Reformed, Kenny asked Mission to the World (MTW) (an agency of the Presbyterian Church in America) if Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church could sponsor a short-term mission project that had been in Bluefield, WV. This project would allow churches to establish relationships within the community of Fairmont by serving people with various needs and reach out with various programs to meet and share the gospel with children in the community. The churches would need a place to stay while they served in Fairmont.
With the help of MTW the short-term mission project was moved to Fairmont WV. The project initially used Mission Farms, and after a few years, the local 4H camp, Camp MarMac. The project was organized and facilitated by Dave and Myra Hamilton, members of Faith Reformed. Soon, the Hamiltons began to serve as MTW missionaries on the field in Fairmont.
As the short-term project grew in size and participation, Kenny continued to seek land for "his camp".
In 2003 Kenny found 246 acres in Shinnston, WV for sale. His love for missions and his vision casting captured the hearts of many in his church and a group of men stepped up to create the board of Dayspring Camp & Conference Center and purchase the land. For the next 6 years money was raised and teams and individuals from the churches that served during the summer, built cabins and a bathhouse.
In 2008, Dayspring Camp & Conference Center, Inc., became the new home of MTW's Impact WV project! The project grew to over 800 people during the ensuing summers. In 2016 MTW decided to stop their US projects and turned over the continuation of the ministry to the Dayspring board.
Dayspring boards with many others familiar with the project continued Kenny's vision, from 2017 to the present, equipping youth and adults for serving the Kingdom. Becoming the hands and feet of Jesus, people came from all over the country to invest their time and love for people to reveal the heart of the Father as Mt 5:16 teaches us. Kenny's involvement from its inception has sparked mission mindedness in many, as well as the skills to help others.
Kenny would live at the camp during the weeks of summer mission projects. Folks were able to shake Kenny's hand on their way to dinner while he wore a silly hat or a hat with a story; Mardi Gras hat from his time helping in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. People loved his dog/goat/farmer story/joke. He loved sharing ways the Lord provided for him and for the camp and just sharing his love not only for Jesus but the State of West Virginia. Kenny's vision of helping others has encouraged many people to choose full time missions because of what they experienced through loving others in Fairmont, and it gave them a vision to share the gospel in other parts of the world as well as in their own hometown.
Kenny often referred to the verse for the camp as Isaiah 6:8 in response to God's question of Whom shall I send, who will go? Isaiah responds, "Here I am send me" He faithfully responded with "Here I am, send me" all through his life.
Kenny's hobby of West Virginia milk bottles is known far and wide as he amassed one of the largest collections of West Virginia Dairy items in the state over 40 years. He was very happy to share the history of West Virginia that came with the collection. The local newspaper once ran an article, "Got milk?" and featured his collection in a full-page story.
