Keith Kenyon Bailey, 95 of Georges Creek, WV fell asleep here on Earth and awoke in the Presence of his Savior on Monday March 31, 2026 after a long battle with Post Polio Syndrome and Dementia.
Keith, affectionally referred to as KK, was born on May 22, 1930 in Charleston, WV to the late Jewel and Rosalee Bailey. Diagnosed as a toddler with Polio, he spent most of his life battling the effects of that disease, never letting it keep him down and always keeping a smile on his face.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife of over 50 years Betty Stamper Bailey, sister Deloris Bailey Blake, brother Jewel Bailey Jr. and son Keith Edward Bailey.
Keith is survived by his daughters Ellen Caruthers (Neil) and Cindy Perry, son Michael Bailey (Kerri), granddaughters Mindy Caruthers and Jessica Rhim (Ted), grandson Eric Caruthers, great grandsons Jackson Caruthers and Patrick Rhim, sister-in-law Barbara Jean Stamper, special nephew Allen Dent, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, and shared his knowledge of the bible with anyone who would listen. Keith loved to read his bible and spent a lot of time at his kitchen table engrossed in the word. His greatest wish was to see his family come to know the Lord.
Keith graduated from the former Stonewall Jackson High School before going to work for A & P grocery stores as a manager, where he worked until the franchise closed. He loved working in the grocery business and talked about it often, telling tales about the stores he helped set up and run. After the closing of A & P, he went to work for Union Carbide where he worked until his retirement. Despite how much he loved his job at A & P, it wasn’t enough for him after he devoted his life to Lord, so he attended Appalachian Bible College and became an ordained minister. He loved a good home cooked meal, especially dessert, but his absolute favorite was a good peanut butter and blackberry jelly sandwich, which his family made sure he got as often as possible.
The family would like to thank the staff at Complete Care at Oak Ridge for the compassionate care they provided him in his final days.
Service will be 12PM, Monday, April 6, 2026 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Jesse Waggoner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
