Katie Shamblin, 19, of Charleston, passed away unexpectedly June 15, 2013. Katie loved to take pictures and was very creative and artistic. She loved snowboarding, especially at Snowshoe, and enjoyed running. Katie was a hard worker, always helpful and never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Vivian Stowers; and great-grandmother, Juanita Stone. Survivors include her loving mother, Jodie M. Stowers of Charleston; father, Todd Shamblin of Charleston; sister, Haley Grace Shamblin of Charleston; grandfather, Jimmy E. Stowers of Charleston; great-grandmother, Thelma Stowers of Charleston, special aunts and uncles, Geneva Surface of Charleston, Jimmy E. Stowers, II of KY and Michael and Joan Stone of Malden; and companion, Jordan Wiseman of South Charleston. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins left to mourn her passing. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. William K. Berry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
