It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, mother, and sister, Kara (Johnson) Barfield, who left us on February 11, 2025, at the age of 33.

Kara was born on August 3, 1991, in Dunbar, WV.

Kara was known for her infectious smile, laughter, boundless spirit, and unwavering kindness. She had a unique ability to light up any room and bring joy to those around her. She had a free spirit at heart and a passion for life.

Despite her struggles with addiction, Kara showed incredible strength and resilience. Her absence will be felt by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Peggy Johnson, grandfather James Johnson, cousin Lindsay Myers, and uncle Johnny Johnson.

Left to cherish her are her sons Kayden Barfield, and Marcus Barfield, mother Sherry Johnson Brunty (Ron), father David Johnson, brother Derrick Johnson (Kate), sister Sierra Johnson (Josh), grandfather David Green, grandmother Connie Smith, aunts Melissa (David), and Lisa, uncles Scott, Jamie (Malinda), and Jimmy, cousin Brittany (Vic) Colon, nephews Cameron Johnson, and Lucas Johnson, niece Karsyn Johnson, and a host of other family members and friends.

She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with those around her.

Kara's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church located at 317 Washington Street, Charleston, WV 25302.

Rest in peace, dear Kara. You will forever remain in our hearts. Until we meet again.
