Junior Smith, 81, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness on April 30, 2013. He was born May 30, 1931 to Joseph H. and Mamie Boggess Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman, Denver and Orion Smith; and an infant sister, Lorraine Smith. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Edna Smith; daughter, Karen Ray and husband Tim of Ripley; son, Tim Smith and wife Stacy of Sissonville; sister, Audrey Edwards of Rinard Mills, Ohio grandchildren; Travis Bostic and Lynn of Sissonville, Maggie Cooper and husband Shawn of Elkins, Josh Smith and Courtney of Sissonville, Kristin and Maddie Marshall of Sissonville, John Ray of Ripley, Joe Newhouse and wife Jenny of Sissonville and Jeremy Newhouse of Sissonville; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Sydney, Malia, Blake, Hayden, Cole, Nathan and Stephen. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith attended Sissonville High School. He was a member of Legg Fork Community Church and worked at Broughton's Food retiring after 43 years of service. Junior had a life long passion for horses. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Rhonda and Kenton Fisher, Larry and Barbara Anderson and Russell and Joyce Kidd. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday May 3, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Fairley McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Sissonville Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
