Obituary

Joseph A. "Joey" King, Jr., 60, of Charleston passed away in the line of duty as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph A. King, III; parents Joe King, Sr. and Betty Jo King and sister, Janetta King. Joey was a member of the Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department for 7 years; a former mechanic with the City of Charleston Sanitary Board and Copley's. He also was a member of the Patriot Guard and the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. Surviving Joey are his Longtime Companion Kay Carson of Charleston; special son, Anthony Carson of Charleston; daughters, Edna King Quinby and her husband Jack of Palatka, Florida, and LeAnne King of Dunbar; sisters, Arietta King and her husband Danny of Charleston; Diana Taylor and her husband Lewis Ray of Charleston; Bethel Wisnewski and her husband Jerry of Greeley, Colorado; and Linnie "Curley" King of Charleston; grandchildren, Amanda and Skyler Quinby, and Tyler Joseph King. Also surviving him are several nieces and nephews left to mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday December 9, 2011 at the South Charleston Community Center with the Rev. Hank Sigmon and Chaplain Mike Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Charleston. The family requests memorials to the Joe King, Jr. Memorial Fund, C/O Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 1970 Oakhurst Rd., Charleston, WV 25309. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 9 PM Thursday December 8, 2011 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home.
