Johnie Franklin Winnell Jr., 70, of Charleston, entered into rest on February 18, 2024 after a short illness.

Johnie was the son of the late Johnie and Phyllis Hager Winnell.

In addition to his parent, Johnie was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Hughart Winnell; daughter, Stephanie Hammack; and son, Johnie Franklin Winnell III.

He is survived by 3 granddaughters, and 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Christopher Mark Winnell, Letha Proctor, Joan Batten, and Thayer "Luke" Winnellk; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnie retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education, and was a member of Pocatalico Community Church, Sissonville.

Service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Pocatalico Community Church, 7138 Sissonville Drive, Charleston with Pastor Buddy Mairs officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour before the service at the Church.
