Johnie Franklin Winnell, III, of Dunbar, formerly of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord December 25, 2013. Johnie loved going to church and attended Parsons Chapel. He participated in the Special Olympics and was a longtime client of ARC of Three Rivers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Winnell Hammack; and maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include his loving mother, Diana Winnell of Dunbar; father, Johnie F. Winnell, Jr. of Sissonville; nieces, Stacia Hammack of Elkview, Briana Hammack of St. Albans and Kayla Brooks of Kanawha City; god parents, Marvin and Jeanie Welch of Dunbar; and caregiver, Sarah Taylor of Charleston. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral service will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ashby officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 5-7 PM also at the funeral home.
