Obituary

John O.L. Taylor, 67, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on Friday June 24, 2011 after fighting a courageous battle. Born November 6, 1943 in Charleston, he was the son of the late Opie and Mary Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his brother Fred Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda; daughter, Becky and her husband Donell Oxley of Sissonville; sisters, Shirley Graley; Janet and her husband Bill Duffield; brothers, Bill and his wife Kaye, Ronnie, Donald and his wife Priscilla, Clayton and his wife Tootie, David and his wife Igy, Jim and his wife Sherry, Charlie and his wife Robin, Tom and his wife Cindy, Joe and his wife Melissa. Granddaughters, Taylor and Lydia Oxley, who he adored; honorary grandchildren, Levi, Harlie, Montana and Jayla Summers. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends are left to mourn his passing. John was a college graduate from WVU Tech and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired school teacher with 39 years of service. He was very passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of his students and those around him. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday June 28, 2011 at Kanawha Two Mile Gospel Tabernacle with the Rev. David Taylor and the Rev. Walter Means officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post #61, Clendenin, will follow in Taylor Memorial Cemetery, Sissonville. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday and one hour prior to services also at the Church.
