John C. Johnson John C. Johnson, 83, of Charleston, passed away October 2, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House, after a long illness. He was born June 21, 1929 in Akron, Ohio. He was retired from C & P Telephone Company with 31 years of service, and attended Starcher Baptist church for 22 years. John was preceded in death by daughter, Karen Jean; brother, Glen Johnson and sister, Anna Mae Murphy. Surviving are; his wife, of 59 years, Margaret; daughters, Marsha Dickson and husband, Bud of Charleston, and Connie Rabel of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley Dickson and Kristin Rabel; sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Miami, Florida; sister, Mary Jo Browning and husband, Fred; brother-in-law, Vernon Murphy, Jr., all of Birch River; and brother, Bill Johnson of Herold. Private family service will be at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Tom Moore officiating. Burial will be in Young Family Cemetery, Charleston. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Starcher Baptist Church, 2624 Sixth Ave., Charleston, WV 25387. Thanks to all who helped during the times of his illness.
