John W. Cantrell, 82, of Charleston passed away June 19, 2010 at his home. John was born December 6, 1927 in Charleston, son of the late William and Mary M. Caruthers Cantrell. He was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Hundley of Texas. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge #153 AF & AM. John was a graduate of Virginia Tech - VPI where he played basketball and later recruted players for the school. Johnny was not a member of the Moore family by birth but as a youngster became an "adopted" son to Sam and Alice, a big brother to Sam II, Judy and especially Dick and Dave and a special "uncle" to Spence and the other Moore grandchildren. John will be missed by several Nieces and Nephews as well as a host of friends left to mourn his passing. Arrangements are entrusted to Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home where services will be held 11:00 AM, July 23, 2010, with Pastor Kenny Petry officiating. Burial will Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post #61 Clendenin and Masonic Graveside Rites provided by Masonic Lodge #153 AF & AM in Springhill Cemetery, Charleston.
