Obituary

John L. "Buckey" Brown, 85, of Sissonville, passed away June 22, 2009, in the Veterans Hospital, Huntington. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Brown; four brothers and two sisters. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, served in the Battle Of The Bulge and was an avid golfer. He was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Cobb Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his companion, Laura Gay Gibson of Sissonville; sister and brother-In-law, Norma and Marcel Dunlap of Alum Creek; granddaughter, Hayley Elizabeth Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston with preacher Ron Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lively Cemetery, Sod, with full military rites.
