Obituary

James E. "Jim" Young Sr, 87, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2019 after a short illness
He was born in Montgomery, WV in November 1931, the son of the late Dorothy Newman and Edward Young of Montgomery.
He was a graduate of Montgomery High School Class of 1950, and also attended WV Institute of Technology. He was retired from AEP of North Charleston, with 36 years of service where he worked as a Garage Supervisor.
He was an avid bowler and bowled in various leagues including the Kilowatt League at Boulevard Lanes, Dunbar Seniors at Dunbar Lanes, and others. He served as League President for many years. He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He also loved to watch sports, especially the WVU Mountaineers.
Jim loved his family and enjoyed the times we were all together. He especially loved his grandchildren and the times he had with them. He loved planting a garden of vegetables and flowers and bird watching.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Tom Young; sisters, Mary Bobbitt, and Linda Siders-Hill. He is survived by his brothers, Robert "Gene" Young, MD of California, Jack Young of Kentucky; and sister, Jane Bowling of Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Donna S. Young; daughters, Sharon Sheets (Randall) of South Charleston, Diana Williamson-Barthelmess and Steve Barthelmess of Charleston; son, Jim Young, Jr. (Paul Fincher, Jr.) of Huntersville, NC; grandsons, Jonathan Sheets (Amber) of Charleston, Nicholas Sheets, MD of Fresno, CA (formerly of South Charleston) and Blake Williamson of Teays Valley; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Alaina Williamson and Luke Sheets.
Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, funeral service following at 3 p.m. Rev. Scott Davis will officiate.
Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
