James Richard Thomas, 72, of Charleston passed away very unexpectedly on Monday, May 13th at his home.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Coleman; father, Garrell Thomas; brothers, Steven Thomas, Gary Thomas and Mike Thomas; and his companion for many years, Jamie Hall.

He is survived by his two daughters that loved him more than the world, Sheila, and her husband, Thomas Phelps, and Tiffany, and her husband, Larry Hamrick; his two fur babies that loved their daddy, Koda and Romeo; his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Donna Smith; brother, Jeff Thomas; his only sister, Linda Lamm, and her husband, Terry; several nieces and nephews, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Rick was an avid racecar fan he had no favorite driver.  His favorite was whoever was on his ticket. He loved spending his Sundays with his daughter watching the race. He was an avid Dallas cowboy fan and always loved when football season was in. Anyone that knew Rick loved him! He was one of the most genuine men on this planet, best dad anyone could ever dream of having.  He will be deeply Missed by his daughters and family and friends.

Service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 20, 2024 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at Noon at the funeral home.
