James Luther Smith, 94, of Charleston died January 16, 2024.

James was born May 21, 1929 in Charleston to the late James Lewis Smith and Amy Smith.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian Lucille "Lucy" Smith.

James was a 1948 Graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School.  He joined the Army and served in the Korean War.  When discharged from the Army, he became an Electrician with Schoolfield Harvey.  He was a 71 year member of the IBEW #466.  James especially enjoyed Golfing, being on the greens any chance he got.

Left to cherish his memory are loving daughter, Nancy Green (Leroy); son, Mark Smith (companion, Terry Nelson); grandchildren, Chris, Tyler Green, Sara, and Cory Smith; great-grandchildren, Elaina Green and Olivia Garcia; sister, Virginia Wehrle; and special cousin, Carolyn Brammer Morrison.

Service will be Noon Monday, January 22, 2024 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston.  Private burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
