Obituary

James E. "Red" Mooney, 83, of St. Albans, passed away February 2, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Frances Elizabeth Mooney; brothers, Paul and Rufus, Jr.; sister, Helen. He was retired from John Amos Power Plant as a Utility Supervisor, and a former employee of Union Carbide. He served in the US Navy during WWII, was an active member of the Holiday Ramblers Motorhome Club and Big Sam Motor Club. He was a member of the Washington Lodge No. 58 AF & AM, St. Albans and a 32 degree Scottish Rite, Huntington. Surviving are; his wife of 60 years Virginia Ann Comer Mooney of St. Albans; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Amy Mooney of Muskogee, OK, and Timothy and Ellen Mooney of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Jessica, James, Katy, Jason, Charles and wife Hopie Mooney; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday February 10, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Harold Burton Hall and the Rev. Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 61, Clendenin. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at cpjfuneralhome.com.
