James Rader
James "Jim" Leland Rader, 77, of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2016. James was born on November 5, 1939 in Calvin, WV to Harold and Aletha Maurine Rader. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Sissonville, was an avid fisherman and worked as a painter for many years. He was co-owner of T and J Painting and worked with the painters local. James served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was affectionately called "Poppy" by his family. He was a great man and a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Leslie. He is survived by his loving wife Karen of 49 years. Jim and Karen were blessed with two children, Jimmy (Laura) and Karena (Jeremy), his grandchildren Jalee and Austin; step grandchildren Cayla and Peyton and their families; sister Ina Roberts of Nicholas County; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday November 20th , 2PM at Maranatha Baptist Church with Pastor Kevan Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV with military rites on Monday at 1PM.
Visitation will be Friday 6-8PM at the church.
