James Edward "Jimmy" Copley 63, of Tyler Mountain passed away unexpectedly Thursday November 8, 2012. Jimmy, as everyone knew him, was born August 5, 1949, to Carlyle "Spike" and Doris Robinson Copley. James was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Richard and his nephew, Robert Allen Copley. James was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1967. He graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a bachelors in Electrical Engineering; and from Louisiana State University with a Master's in Chemical Engineering. He was also an advocate for higher learning. His most recent project was paving an easier corridor for corporate and government 'whistleblowers'; a very daunting task. He leaves to cherish so many wonderful memories, his wife and best friend, Sharon Martin Copley; step-children, Michelle Harmon, R.J. Martin (whom he had so much respect) and Haleigh of Charleston; Kim Erskine of Florida and Freddie Erskine of Indiana; son, James Copley; four grandchildren, Anthony, Rusty Lee, Taron and Jaylee, his little princess and another little girl 'on the way'; brothers, Carlyle 'Spike' Copley and wife Kim of Easley, SC; Allen Copley and wife Kathy; Tommy Copley and wife Cecilia; and his special mother-in-law, Thelma Dawson, all of Charleston. He also leaves a very special friend, his beloved pastor, Anthony Moss. A special 'I love you' to his niece, Tracy. James was so full of life, always making those around him laugh. He never met a stranger who didn't become his friend. His infectious smile will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be 6:00 PM Monday November 12, 2012 at the North Charleston Apostolic Church with Pastor Anthony Moss officiating.
