Jack Lee
Guthrie
June 14, 1936 – October 30, 2025
Jack Lee Guthrie, 89, of Charleston, WV, passed away after a short illness on October 30, 2025. Jack was born on June 14, 1936, to the late Noble and Georgie Fields and lived in Charleston all his life. Jack worked for Capital City Supply, Nova Rubber, Dolin Supply, and ended his retirement to become a custodian for South Charleston High School. Jack attended Kanawha Two-Mile Gospel Tabernacle and loved going to church. He was an avid Mountaineer fan and could often be found cheering them on, win or lose.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Catherine Guthrie, who he cherished with his entire heart. Jack was also preceded in death by his brothers Ted, Tim, Steve, and Tommy, and his sister, Sharon, along with his great-granddaughter Makenzie Grace Francisco, who he shared a birthday with and will celebrate with her in Heaven for eternity. He is survived in death by his four daughters, Peggy Thaxton (Darrell), Kathy Smith (Terry), Vicki Brown (Corky), and Melody Snodgrass (Richard). He is also survived by his sister, Connie Goins (Curtis) of Charleston, WV, as well as seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Jack was a family man to the core and loved being surrounded with love by each of his family members for Sunday dinners and during the holiday seasons.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Complete Care at Oakridge, Thomas Memorial Hospital, and Hubbard Hospice House for their outstanding and exemplary care for Jack during his time of need.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Wednesday, November 5th at Kanawha Two-Mile Gospel Tabernacle with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM and funeral services following immediately after at 12:00pm
