Jack L. Edens Jack L. Edens, 75, of Sissonville surrounded by his loving family passed away on Sunday as a result of complications from a fall during a recent snow storm. Jack served his country as a young man during the Korean War as a member of the United State Air Force. He was a foreman for FMC Corporation, owned Tops paving for many years and was currently Vice President of Topspot Inc. He was known as a "Jack of all trades". There were very few things he could not do and if he could not do it, it became a challenge and he mastered it. He built Topspot from paving the lot to final construction. He was the behind the scenes person at Topspot, doing all maintenance, repairs, and ordering supplies. Giving an example of Jack's expertise, he chartered a deep sea fishing boat in Florida, during the trip a raging storm came up unexpectedly, one of the engines failed and the captain informed them that they could not make it back. While the boat was swirling in the raging water Jack repairs the engine and saves 10 lives, several boats perished in that storm. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. Edens and Helena Pritt Edens, Grandson Chad Edens and Great Granddaughter Sidney Pritt. He is survived by the love of his life Janet; sons, Jack, Jr. and wife Tina of Charleston, Jeffery of Spring Hill, Florida and Gregory and wife Lisa of Spring Hill Florida; daughters, Natalie Fisher and husband Terrance of Charleston, Veronica Heaton and husband Larry of Dublin, Ohio, Renee Manning and husband Mark of Rock Hill, South Carolina; brother, Gary Edens and wife Pansy of Tampa Florida; sister, Brenda Rowe and husband Ronnie of Sissonville. 12 Grandchildren, Jeffrey P. Edens, Bryan A. Edens, Jessica Pritt, Tera Lyons and husband Aaron, Susan Fisher and Fiancée Jared, Zackary Edens, Cad Heaton, Heather Manning, Davin Heaton, Jack Heaton, Barret Heaton and Tori Manning, along with a host of friends and relatives. Jack and his wife Janet are the owners of one of the most recognized restaurants and caterers in the area. One of their proudest moments was serving President George W. Bush on two different occasions. Jack will be greatly missed by his family, friends, customers and any one that knew him. He also leaves behind his most cherished friend his most recent love, his companion MOLLY who watched over him like an angel. Seconds before he took his last breath we promised him that whenever she had her first litter of pups his beautiful German Shepherd would give her first male his name. The only smile we had seen during that entire week of pain lit up his face, he took his last breath and left us crying. The family would especially like to thank Billie Holcome & Josh Middleton the MICU nurses at Memorial Hospital for their patience and putting up with us and our large family during Jack's six days with them. You will never be forgotten. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 15, 2012 in the chapel of Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday also at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the church or organization of your choice.
