Irene Jordan Hilton
Irene Jordan Hilton, 96, peacefully entered into rest at home on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. She was born July 5, 1920 in Sissonville, WV, the daughter of Ira Wilbur and Mamie Hester Guthrie Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Joseph Henry Hilton, and her sister, Margaret Taylor.
A lifelong resident of Charleston, Irene enjoyed life through her family, friends, church and work. She was a founding member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kanawha City where she held many roles and worked tirelessly to raise funds for improvements. She enjoyed a long, successful career as an office manager and bookkeeper for several medical practices, retiring at the age of 72.
Irene was truly a kind and gentile person whose love for her family had no boundaries. She is survived by her daughters, Joey Kelley and husband David and Sandy Brosnahan and husband Bob; her grandchildren, Brian Kelley and wife Elena, Brett Kelley and wife Emily, Beth Kelley Wasik and husband Andrew, Bobby Brosnahan and Tommy Brosnahan; five great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Friends will be received at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home at 1325 Washington Street West in Charleston from 12 to 1 pm on Tuesday June 20, 2017. Funeral service will be held immediately following at 1 pm at the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Kent Higgins officiating.
