Gursha Monetia Older Lanier of Kelly's Creek passed away at home, Saturday February 13, 2016. She was born March 23, 1921 and was 94 years, 10 months and 21 days old. Monetia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Vollie F. and Lizzie J. Pritt Older; husband, Denver P. Lanier, daughter, Loretta J. Lanier; son-in-law, Don McClanahan; sister, Eva Older; brothers, Flavius and Orville Older. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Lanier McClanahan of Kelly's Creek; sons, Roy F. Lanier and wife Linda of Kelly's Creek; Ronnie L. Lanier and wife Belle of Sissonville and Paul Lanier and wife Roberta of Rocky Fork. Nine Grandchildren, Jeanette, Mark, Ron, Shawna, Joey, Rachel, Meagan, Erin, Bonnie, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was a seamstress, loved to sew and make quilts. She was saved in July, 1948 and was a member of Kelly's Creek Community Church. She loved to read her Bible and grow flowers. She enjoyed canning from the garden and cooking. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday February 19, 2016 at Kelly's Creek Community Church with Pastor Cletus Price and Pastor David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Older Family Cemetery, Kelly's Creek, Charleston. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday February 18, 2016 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
