Glennie L. Gibson, 70, of Sissonville, passed away at CAMC Memorial, July 18, 2011, surrounded by his wife and children. II Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Glennie was born July 9, 1941 to William and Ethel Gibson, who preceded him in death; in addition he was preceded in death by his, in-laws, Lovell and Sylvia Legg; brothers, Roger, Buddy and Clinton Gibson; and two nephews. Glennie retired in 2005 from McJunkin Corporation with 30 years of service, but was most proud of his over 40 years of devotion to the Lord. Glennie was a member of Leatherwood P.A.C. church. During this time, he served the Lord as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and as vice-president of the Primitive Advent Conference for many years, and often shared his knowledge of the Bible with anyone seeking to understand it better. He spent numerous mornings having breakfast with a host of friends discussing the Bible which he loved. Glennie and Virginia both sang in the Valley Four Quartet for several years at numerous churches where their five young children were always present and sang together as a group. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Virginia B. Gibson; five children and their spouses, Becky and Brad Daugherty, David and Missy Gibson, Barbara and Ron Kittle, Donna and Leroy Conner, and Karen and Shane Hill; papaw to 12 grandchildren, Joshua, Logan, Cody, Kelsey, Kailey, Austin, Brandon, Breyanna, Jacob, Brooklyn, Hunter, and Keira Shae; brothers, Nester, Larry, James and Johnny Gibson; sisters, Emmalee, Thelma, Lessie and Kathy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 22, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Danny Beckner and the Rev. Jack Comer officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Cemetery, Sissonville. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who visited, called and prayed for Glennie (Dad). He is asleep in the Lord and awaiting His return.
