George Daniel Goode, 89, of Nitro, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2014. Dan retired from Union Carbide after 44 years of service. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #170, Nitro. Preceding him in death were his wife, Medeba Goode; daughter, Kathy Mitchell; parents, William and Lennie Goode; and sister, Thelma Day. Survivors include his loving sons, Walter Goode of Dunbar and Mike Goode and wife, Susan of Caldwell; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Rev. Gerry White officiating. Entombment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post #61, Clendenin. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
