Gatha F. Carpenter Gatha F. "Grannie" Carpenter, 88, of Sissonville, went home to the Lord September 13, 2013. She was an LPN graduating nursing school in 1968. She worked at CAMC-General and St. Francis Hospital for several years. Gatha was a member of Utah Mission Christian Church. She also loved sewing and gardening. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clifford C. Carpenter; parents, William M. and Sadie Shaffer Wines; and siblings, Arthur Wines, William Wines, Jr., Hallie Bias, Grace Whiting, Eloise McClanahan, Wilma McClanahan and Barbara Wines. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Linda C. Haynes; sons, Michael D. Carpenter, Robert E. "Skip" Carpenter and Stephen C. Carpenter; brother; Richard A. Wines; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at New Testament Community Church (formerly Utah Mission), Utah Hollow Rd., Charleston 25312, with Pastor Dan Mallett officiating. Private burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30 p.m. Monday, also at the church. Sincere thanks are extended to all her care givers throughout the years, especially Doris Thomas and Samantha Garrett who were with her to the end.
