Gary L. Thaxton Gary L. Thaxton, 59, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday January 2, 2010 in CAMC General. He was born April 11, 1950 to the late Frank and Mary Holmes Thaxton. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps, with ten years of service, and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence E. Thaxton. Surviving are; his devoted companion of 28 years, Deborah L. Haynes of Sissonville; son, Robert Thaxton and wife, Amy of North Carolina; daughter, Melissa Montgomery and husband Jack of Charleston; brothers and sisters, Ron Thaxton and wife, Amy of Charleston, Steve Thaxton and wife Anna of Ripley, Pam Parsons and husband Jack of Charleston, Regina Huffman and husband Ed of Virginia, and Marsha Cowden and husband James of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Nicholas Thaxton of North Carolina, Sabastian Haynes, Hunter Montgomery, Makalia Montgomery, and Alexander Montgomery all of Charleston; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Walter Means officiating. Burial will be in New Family Cemetery, Wolf Pen, Charleston, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 61 Clendenin.
