September 21, 1943 – March 25, 2025
Fredrick Dare Mangus, 81, of Charleston, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at CAMC Memorial on March 25th, 2025 following a brief illness.
Fred is proceeded in death by his mother Arminia Vandale, father Dare Mangus, brother Robert (Bobby) Mangus, sister Judy Skeens.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Irene Mangus of Charleston, son Jeffrey (Kelly) Mangus, daughter Dianna Mangus, grandson Brady (Allison) Mangus, granddaughter Ryann (Ryan) Mangus, and two great grandsons William Gray Mangus and Kace Pierson Taylor. He is also survived by his loving sisters Carolyn Chabot and Debbie Wilson both of Charleston, Brother-in-law Darrell (Lucinda) Holmes, his family in Kentucky, also including many nieces and nephews that he loved so much.
Born to a life of honor and hard work, Fred carried that ethic throughout his days, always providing for his loved ones with unwavering dedication. Fred is a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and Mayo State Vocational School. He is a member of the Union Valley Gospel Tabernacle church. Fred worked for the local phone company (C&P / Bell Atlantic / Verizon) as a Central Office Technician and retired after 37 years.
His commitment to his family was paramount, and he was a pillar of strength and support to his wife, Irene Mangus, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Fred was a loving father and a devout Christian. Fred lived his life with kindness and compassion. He had a heart that embraced everyone in his circle, and his faith was a source of strength and inspiration to those around him. Fred was known for his warm smile, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his genuine love for his fellow man. Fred will be remembered as a hardworking, devoted, and loving man. His legacy of faith, family, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Friends and Family may gather from 11:00 A.M.-11:30 A.M. on Friday April 11, 2025, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. with Pastor Rob Legg officiating.
