Floyd "Hank" Holmes, 90, of Tuppers Creek, Charleston, went home to be with the Lord October 9, 2011. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, retired from OK Trucking Company, a member of Teamsters Local #175, and received a professional truck driver safe driving award. Hank was a member of Union Valley Gospel Tabernacle and loved his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ami and Mary Tate Holmes; his loving wife of 49 years, Ruth Holmes; son; Johnny Holmes and his brother Mose Holmes. Surviving him are son, Floyd Holmes and wife Cathy of Charleston; daughter, Roma Ferrell and husband Rick of Sissonville; and Barbara Burdette and husband Clevie of Charleston; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 13, 2011 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating. Burial with military graveside rights provided by American Legion Post #61 Clendenin, will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home.
