Mr. Eugene Thaxton, 83, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2010. There to meet him was his loving wife of 49 years Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Elizabeth Thaxton, infant son Stephen, parents Lena and Everett and five brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Dennis Thaxton, and wife Debbie; granddaughter Katie Fisher and husband A.J.; grandson, Andrew Thaxton, and great grandson Mason Fisher. Also surviving are Brothers Elvin Thaxton, Hansford Thaxton and wife Hazel, Noble Thaxton and wife Doris, McKinnley Thaxton and wife Juanita and Sister Thelma Carpenter. Eugene was saved by the Lord's merciful grace at the age of 81 on his family's farm in Mason County, WV. His family enjoyed a few short months of celebrating the Lord's love with him through church services at Sugar Creek Community Mission before the grip of Alzheimer's took its strong hold. He then slipped quickly away. He was retired from the Kanawha County School Board where he was a school bus driver for many years. He was a very devoted grandfather and even though little Mason was born towards the end of his journey he would still come back to us for a few moments of time to talk to and hold him. His eyes would light up when he heard Mason coming. We will miss our dad, popaw, grampie and brother with all our hearts here on earth but have the reassurance that he is rejoicing in heaven today with his loving wife by his side.
