Emmett A. Petry, 85 of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and Union Carbide Corporation, a Member of the Charleston Mountain Mission where he sang in the choir and was a former Board Member and Devotional Leader at the church. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Edward, Sr. and Minnie Bay Toney Petry; his first wife, Virginia Ramsey Petry; brothers, William H., Clarence E. Jr., Reed L., Charles H., Thomas R., Carl H. and Paul P. Petry. Surviving him is his wife Nelma Cavender Petry; son, Emmett Craig Petry and wife Lori of Charleston; daughters, Linda Copley of Charleston, Brenda Petry of St. Albans and Elizabeth Petry of Florida; brother, Bruce Petry and wife Jan of Charleston. Grandchildren, Kenneth, Jr., Kevin and Suzanne Bridges; Aaliyah Petry; Evan and Myka Petry and Sarah Copley. Great Grandchildren, Faraji and Savannah Bridges. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday May 15, 2012 at the Charleston Mountain Mission Church with the Rev. Fairley McCormick officiating. Burial with follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Military Graveside Rites accorded by American Legion Post #61 Clendenin. Visitation with the Family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM May 14, 2012 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
