Obituary

Emery Wesley "Red Bird" Casdorph, 68, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2016 after a long illness. He was the son of Anna Mae Taylor of Racine, OH, where she makes her home with her daughter, Cathy Thaxton. Mr. Casdorph was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Army from May 8, 1968 to January 9, 1970. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. Wes sang with the "Esquires" for several years and got to experience traveling to Russia to sing with them. He loved to sing and perform. Survivors include his loving mother, Anna Mae Taylor; sisters, Cathy Thaxton, Roberta Coffman and husband, Sheldon, Delores Haynes and husband, Willis, and Loretta Marcum; brothers, Donald Casdorph, Rick Taylor and wife, Brenda, Pat Bumgardner, David Taylor and wife, Carol, and Harrison Taylor and wife, Delores; special uncle, Junior Casdorph; and special aunt, Olive Lucille Whittington. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Reverend Jody Pauley officiating. Burial with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin, will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to good friends Joyce Harding, Jimmy Lotts, Tom Harrison and Butch Gibson. The family also wishes to thank Jimmy Lotts for the wonderful care he selfless gave to Wes every day.
