Elmer T. Snodgrass, 89, of Charleston, passed away peacefully January 9, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Glasgow after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He retired from E.I. DuPont, Belle, with 39 years of service. He was a member of Starcher Baptist Church. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He also loved to play and watch baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Means Snodgrass; parents, Tholoma Dink and Fannie Charlotte Bradshaw Snodgrass; brothers, Ray, Rondall, Eugene and Louis Snodgrass; and sisters, Clara Comer, Reba Jarrell, Mamie Comer and Dora Dale. Survivors include his children, Billie Kay Layne and husband, Paul Jr. of Kenna, Jacqueline Ann Baker of Charleston, Bradford Snodgrass and wife, Elizabeth of South Charleston and Ricky Snodgrass and wife, April of Charleston; sister-in-law, Mary Bolin of Charleston; grandchildren, P. Lee Layne, III of Charleston, Shawn Layne of Cross Lanes, Kelly Layne of Heath, OH, Shaunna Westfall and husband, Shane of Las Vegas, NV, Danielle Winterton and husband, Elijah of Columbus, OH, Sarah Snyder and husband, Josh of Winchester, VA, Bradford Snodgrass, Jr. of Charleston, Stephanie Snodgrass of Nashville, TN and Amanda Whitlock and husband, Chase of Dunbar; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Workman officiating. Private family burial will be on Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends will be received one hour prior to service time Sunday also at the funeral home.
