Eddie (Edward) Lee Casdorph, 81, lifelong resident of Kanawha Two Mile, Charleston, WV, passed away on March 13, 2013, after a courageous encounter with cancer. Eddie was born in Charleston, WV on February 12, 1932. He attended the first Bonham Elementary School located on Route 21 at the mouth of Casdorph Road, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School and graduate from Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1950. Eddie was a member of Teamsters Local 175 and for over 45 years worked as a Professional truck Driver for Kanawha County Schools, Costal Tank Lines, E.J. Myers, Liquid Transport and JJ Auto Salvage, to name a few. He enjoyed his professional driving career very much, at one time owning his own 'rig', retiring at the age of 74, leaving it having logged over 1.5 million miles as a "Chemical Hauler" without incident. In his youth he was a weekend regular at the Winfield Drag Strip, winning many races and receiving many trophies. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, 'hill climbing' and taking long rides with his friends. He was a morning regular, hanging out with his 'buddies' at Suzi's in North Charleston, McDonald's on Patrick Street, Fas Check on Route 21. Wherever the guys could hang out he would be there to hear or share a story and a laugh. He was a true friend to anyone who needed help and to many who did not. His straightforward, no nonsense personality, will surely be missed by all who knew him. Eddie was the grandson of the late Henry Casdorph, Sr. of Casdorph Road is also preceded in death by his mother, Alpha Lena Cavender Casdorph, Hillard Avis Casdorph, and his only siblings, Vada Mae Casdorph-Parsons and Velma Jean Casdorph. Survivors include his Ex-Wife, Frances R. Fugate Casdorph and his only child and daughter, Rebecca Pratt. Grandchildren, David Zachary Masinter and wife Courtney of Charleston, Savannah Marie Pratt of Washington, Samuel Edward and Stephen Michael Pratt both of Virginia, Sophia Noelle Pratt of Charleston and his great grandson, Rafali Shalom Masinter of Charleston, who always put a smile on his face, and longtime friend Doris McClanahan. Funeral visitation and service arrangements will be handled by and held at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston. Family friend and Pastor Jeff Comer of Bible Missionary Baptist Church, Sissonville, will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, from 3 to 5 pm, and funeral services on Monday, March 18 at 1:00pm. Burial service will follow the funeral at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Dinner will be hosted by the family, immediately following burial services, at Top Spot Family Restaurant, Sissonville Drive, family and friends are welcome.
