Obituary

Dy-Anna "Dee" Marie Skeens, 66, of Charleston, went home to be with her Lord on February 29th, 2024 at 6:33 pm with her caregiver, and husband of 48 years, Roger Skeens Sr., by her side at her home after a long illness.

Dy-Anna was born December 10, 1957 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Edith Arlene Petro and Michael Petro Jr. She was the 3rd of 4 children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Petro; and her nephew, Charlie Petro.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Roger Skeens Sr.; children, Roger (Veronica) Skeens Jr., and Brian (Slena) Skeens; grandchildren, Shannon Skeens, Kassidy Helmick, Kimberly and Nevaeh Cummings, and Whittney, Tabetha, and Shiann Barker; two siblings, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dee always had a fiery spirit and even with her recent medical issues she was still full of spunk and liked to always stir the pot. Her infectious laughter and her wonderful smile could light up a room. She always loved when her daughter Veronica would brush her hair or for one of her sons to come out to the house to just sit and cut the bull for no reason other than to be near their parents. While we was only blessed with a short time, her memory will live on through the hearts of those that loved her dearly. She will always be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother and while her family will miss her dearly we find peace in knowing she will be reunited with her mother Edith Petro, who she loved and cherished deeply. She was a strong, independent woman who raised two strong boys as a stay at home mom, making sure that everything was always taken care of. She had a spitfire attitude and loved to voice her opinion about anything. She loved with her whole heart as we will try to do in her memory. While she is gone, she will never be forgotten in the hearts of those that love her dearly.

Service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 11, 2024 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
