Dorothy "Jane" Curry McDowell
91, of Charleston, peacefully passed from this life to one of eternal joy, September 22, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Jane was born, March 24, 1926 to the late, Ronald Brown and Mabel Morris Curry. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Thomas M. McDowell; daughter, Eleanor Ann McDowell; sister, Lois Ann Davis; and brother, Charles A. Curry.
She was a graduate of DuPont High School, Class of 1943, and worked in the secretarial field for many years, retiring from The West Virginia Air National Guard with 30 years of service. Jane was a Christian and a devoted member of her church, The Putney Memorial Church.
Surviving are; her daughter, Cathy Wheeler and husband, David; grandchildren, Chuck, Chris and Alan Layden; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Emma Layden; sister, Eleanor "Pruney" Stanley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
