Donald D. Monk 77 of Charleston passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 28, 2014. He was born December 19, 1937 in Charleston to the late Delbert and Gladys Monk. He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Kay Carpenter; grandson, Tommy Carpenter and brothers, Clifford, Denver, Charles, Paul and Dallas. Don was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA District 17. He was an avid Dirt Track Race Car Fan, and a jokester. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Judy Ann Baldwin Monk; daughter Brenda Monk and son Jimbo Monk and wife Cindy of Charleston. Grandchildren, Anna Carpenter, Tiff Boggess, Crystal Kiser, Eric Monk, Logan Monk; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Carroll Monk and sister, Connie Casto. Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 3, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with J.J. Layne officiating. A Gathering of friends will be one hour prior to services.
