Donald "Don" E. Howerton Donald "Don" E. Howerton, 83, of Grandview, passed away, June 10, 2013. Don was born on January 30, 1930. He worked as a Safety Director for Armco/Peabody Coal, and attended Grandview Christian Church. Survivors include, his wife, of 30 years, Fern Howerton; son, Donnie and wife, Cindy Howerton; step-daughter, and son-in-law, Wendy and Philip Maltempie; stepson and daughter-in-law, Steve and Belinda Thompson; grandchildren, Adam and Elizabeth Maltempie, John, Brady and Alexis Howerton; six brothers and a sister; brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Judy Shumate; mother-in-law, Virginia Shumate; many friends and family, and a family dog, Star. Honoring Don's wishes, there will be no service, his body will be cremated.
