Dona "Dolores" Layne, 78, of Charleston, widow of Kenneth Lee Layne, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
She was retired from K-Mart, Patrick Street and loved mowing grass on her riding lawn mower.
She was born August 23, 1939, in Charleston daughter of Esta and Benjamin Harper both who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Ray, Ralph, Roy, Richard and Robert Harper.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda Layne, Ricky Layne and Kimberly D'Arco, all of Charleston; grandson, Kenneth Layne of Hurricane; great grandchildren, Alex and Kaylee Layne both of Hurricane; her brother, Ronald Harper and wife Nellie of Charleston and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend she call her sister, Donna King.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Sally Dunbar and Lucy Hill for the loving care of mom.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday September 16, 2017 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor John Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday also at the funeral home.
