Obituary

Dewey Michael Mathena, 62, of Roanoke, Virginia formerly of Charleston passed away February 9, 2012 at the VA Medical Center, in Salem, Virginia. He was born February 6, 1950 the son of the late Howard Dewey and Margaret Maydona Holley Mathena. Dewey was a U.S. Army Veteran and a former resident of Cave Creek Assisted Living in Troutville, VA. Dewey lived at Cave Creek from May 10, 1985 till January 31, 2012. The staff of Cave Creek came to love Dewey and became his family. Dewey had respect and love not only from the staff but also from the other residents. He was a sweetheart, always pleasant and willing; he had a way of calling your name that would melt your heart, making it next to impossible to say no to him. Dewey enjoyed shopping and eating out. We all love you and will miss you; we all are blessed to have been with you when he re-dedicated his life to the Lord. Rest in peace and we look forward to seeing you again. There are no known survivors at the time of his passing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday February 23, 2012 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. William K. Berry officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post #61 Clendenin will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
