Dayton Humphreys, 88, of Charleston, passed away October 18, 2009. Dayton was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Sister Burdette Humphreys; wife of 46 years, Icie Summers Humphreys; sister, Wilma Thomas and brother, Cody Humphreys. He was a retired electrician with Bennett Industries, was a WWII Armey Veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his, sisters, Freda Thompson of Charleston, and Judy King of Chesapeake; brother, Tom Humphreys of Florida; children, Betty Lanham of Charleston, Charles Humphreys and wife Mary of Groveport, Ohio, Paul David Humphreys and wife, Diana of Ridgeville, South Carolina, Bonnie Mitchell and husband Donald of Rapid City, South Dakota; grandchildren, Brian Lanham and wife Jamie of South Charleston, Robin Caudill and husband, John of St. Albans, Charles Humphreys and wife, Tricia of Ray, Ohio, Tracey Humphreys of Lancaster, Ohio, Christina Poling and husband, Steve of Amanda, Ohio, Tonya Lewis and husband, Andrew of Aiken, South Carolina, Stephanie Clark and husband, Trey of Georgetown, South Carolina, Sarah Mitchell and Christopher Mitchell both of Rapid City, South Dakota; great-grandchildren, Michael, Madalynn, Samantha, Alexandrea, Sydney, MacKenzie, Shelby, Jessica, Tyler, Gabriel, Gavin and Eli. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Rob VanFossen officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 61 Clendenin, will be in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
