Daniel "Cotton" Beckner, of Charleston, WV was called home on May 28, 2015 after a short illness. Cotton and his beloved wife Mina made their home on the West Side of Charleston for many years, after her death he moved to the Marmet area where he remained for the final 10 years of his life to be near his son. He will be remembered for his big smile, friendly wave and tales of childhood pranks to friends, family and neighbors. He also enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. He was retired from Trojan Steel and worked many years in construction prior to that. One of his favorite things was going to Bob Evans with his son. Cotton was born November 5, 1922 to the late Rev. Volley and Gerta Beckner. He was also proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Mina Haynes Beckner; four brothers: Bill, Hank, Dick and Willie Beckner; three sisters, Sylvia Cobb, Beulah Casto and Wilma Withrow. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Patricia Becker; grandson, Eric Beckner of Marmet and two sisters, Pauline Pickard of Stevensville, Montana and Audrey Sergent of Sanford, Fl. Cotton is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday May 31, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Goggess officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Saturday May 30, also at the funeral home. Cotton will be missed be family, friends and neighbors. Everyone that met him will always carry an image of his friendly face and laughing voice in their hearts.
