Obituary

Clay Locy Carney Jr., 80, of Nitro, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Clay was born on November 6, 1943, to the late Clay Sr. and Virginia Carney.

Clay was a Vietnam Veteran who retired from the United States Air Force and the WV Office of Emergency Services.

In addition to his parents, Clay is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Carney, brother, Delbert Carney, and sister, Norma Harper.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Ruth Robertson (Jack) and Connie Miller, brother George Carney (Patty); stepchildren Donald Hancock, Earl Fore (Mary), and Patricia Carney; grandchildren Amber Chenos (Vince), Kris Fritz (Doug), James Fore, Chuck Carney (Kirstie), and Dawn Pierce, multiple great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. following the visitation.
