IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte Sue
Goodwin
April 7, 1943 – July 6, 2025
Charlotte Sue Goodwin, 84, of South Charleston, WV passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2025, at Sweetbriar Assisted Living in Dunbar, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack Goodwin and her parents Willliam G and Maedew Pickens. Sue was born on April 7, 1943, in Charleston WV.
After graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School, she earned a Bachelor's Degree at WV State College and a master's degree +45 at Marshall University. Sue began her 30 + teaching career at Bonham Elementary in Sissonville WV. The several years she primarily taught in grades 1-3. Then she transferred to South Charleston Junior High where she taught World Geography, grade 7. She stayed there except for one year when she taught at Horace Mann Junior High. The SC people missed her, and she missed them, so back she went and stayed until she retired. From the very beginning Sue took an exceptional interest in her students. If any of them needed something, very often she was one of the first to lend a helping hand in any way she could. Sue was a member of WVEA & KCEA.
Sue and Jack were active members in Central United Methodist Church until it closed, and then they attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Charleston WV. Sue continued going there for as long as she was able. When she could no longer attend, she still considered it her church, and she kept in touch with friends and neighbors who still go there.
Her interests include traveling, dancing, eating out and socializing with her friends. Survivors include a sister Dora Coleman of South Charleston WV, a stepdaughter Debra Estep of Supply, NC, stepson, Michael Goodwin (Lynn Renee) of Corpus Christi, TX. A brother-in-law, Don Goodwin (Dora) of St. Albans, WV, 4 step granddaughters, several step great, great granddaughters as well as several nieces and nephews that she clearly loved.
