Charles Landis Bailey, 84, of Charleston, passed away, December 3, 2018, at CAMC memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 7, 1934, in Davin, WV to the late William "Rich", and Myrlie Harless Bailey. He was also preceded in death by sister, India Mae Toler and brother, Jason Landon Bailey.
On January, 4, 1955, Charles enlisted in the the United States Air Force and was stationed at MacGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. There he served his country for four years before joining the Air National Guard where he served until 1964.
Charles retired in 1993 from Valley Bell Dairy with 36 years of service. It was also where he met the love of his live, Nellie Duffield in 1958. During his retirement years he became Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 19 at at Aldersgate Church in Sissonville, and worked part time at the Kanawha County Board of Education, where he made many friends while delivering mail or working in the print shop.
Charles was a devoted husband, adored father, and cherished grandfather, who loved his family with undeniable passion. He also enjoyed camping trips, Myrtle Beach vacations, and cookouts. He never met a stranger and would often end a conversation with "Glad you got to see me."
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie Duffield Bailey; daughters, Drenda Bumgardner (Rick) of Sissonville, Linda Willard (Danis) of Julian, NC, and Lori Otey (Jason Ward) of Charleston; grandsons, Cory and Chris Good, both of Sissonville; granddaughters, Bailey and Riley Otey, both of Charleston; step-granddaughters, Jessica Bumgardner, Christy Gaylord, and Robin Yow; step-grandsons, Jamie and Jacob Ward, and Randall Willard; sisters, Sharon Mallorey (OJ) of Glen Allen Virginia, Phyllis Ellis (Jon) of Sugarloaf, PA and Sandra Hall (Mike) of Cyclone, WV; brother, L.P. "Bo" Bailey (Randee) of Carthage, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Jon Ventura and Marvin Estep.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2018, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston with Pastor Marvin Estep officiating. Burial will be in Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Dunbar.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 6, also at the funeral home.
