Carol Jean Hicks Carol Jean "Shorty" Hicks, 65, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2014. Shorty enjoyed being with her family and friends and was a gracious and giving provider to them. Shorty was also a loving and wonderful wife, and mother. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jack Thomas and Erma Jean Evans Dunbar; sister, Brenda Dunbar; and nephew, Andrew Campbell. Shorty is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Jerry Hicks; children, Jerry Wayne, II (Alisa Browning) of Morgantown, Laura Hicks of St. Albans, Amanda Hicks of Nitro, Matthew Hicks of West Palm Beach, FL, April Thongdara (Ratsamy) of Kanawha City, and Bobby Lee Anderson, II of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Christa Nadeene Browning, Marissa Dawn, Kelsey Jean, Jordan Wayne, Miranda Lakole, and Lauren Elizabeth Hicks, Rusty, Dustin, Nick, Brendan and Kami Thongdara, and Monica Jewel Anderson; and siblings, Jackie Lee Dunbar, Jane Ann Anderson, and Jesse Fred Dunbar. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Chaplain Brian Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
