Carl "Matt" Madison Smith, 74, of Charleston, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1948, to the late Carl Smith Sr. and Mildred Ferrell Smith.

Matt was a veteran of the United States Army, a dog lover, a car enthusiast, an avid hunter, and an outdoorsman. He loved riding ATVs and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Matt is preceded in death by his wife Becki Latham-Smith, brother Andrew Lee Smith, sisters Shirley N. Smith and Joan Kay Brooks, son-in-law Bill Patrick, nephews John "Joe" Smith and Daniel G. Burgy.

Those left to cherish his memory include Sharon Hatfield of WV, daughter Christin Patrick, grandchildren Mckensi and Bradley Patrick of WV, sisters Ann Conley of CA, Carla "Sue" Hess of WV, and Gail Burgy of OH, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved him dearly and too many beloved friends to list.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kathy, Sharon, Brett, Terry, Shane, and Wayne for the care and concern you showed Matt when he needed you most, and Ralphy for being a constant, even in the last hours and to everyone who came to visit Matt when he was sick, much love and appreciation to all.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
