Carl Rodney Burgess, 88, of Charleston, WV, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. He was born on January 17, 1936, to the late Wilbur and Willa (Slayton) Burgess.

Carl was a United States Army Veteran and a retiree from the Kanawha County Board of Education.

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Burgess, brothers Bill, Bob, Bud, Don, and Charles Burgess, sisters Carolyn Burgess, Betty Helms, Helen Hammons, Midge Jones, and Mae Corbin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Darren Burgess (Karen) of Charleston, and Steven Burgess (Sarah) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., brother Jim Burgess of South Charleston, grandchildren Daniel, Patrick, Matthew, Evan, and Ellie Burgess.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Petry officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
