Bruce E. Petry 89, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2012. He was retired from Union Carbide Corporation. He was a US Army veteran of WWII having attained the rank of Staff Sargent. Bruce was a member of the Charleston Mountain where he sang in the Choir and was a former Sunday School Superintendent. He also worked in the Mission's Social Services Department and was a devoted Christian. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edward Sr., and Minnie Bay Toney Petry; son, Bruce E. Petry, Jr. and brothers, Emmett A, William H., Clarence E. Jr., Reed L., Charles H., Thomas R., Carl H. and Paul P. Petry. Surviving is his loving wife of 66 years Janet Goff Petry; son, Robert E. Petry, Sr. of Charleston. Grandchildren, Jeff Petry and wife Erin, Robert E. Petry, Jr., and wife Jennifer and Kenny Petry. Great Grandchildren, Madison, Levi, Gracie, Bekah, Rylan, Faith and Kendyll. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday August 15, 2012 at Charleston Mountain Mission with the Rev. Fairley McCormick officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post 61 Clendenin will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services also at the church.
