Brenda "Kay" Hanshaw, 72 of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice House.
Kay retired from the Charleston Police Department, Administrative assistant in the office of the Police Chief with 28 years of services. She was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and active in the Ladies Circle at the church. She was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Burhl and Biddie Hatcher; daughter Sherry Oldaker and her brother, Bill Hatcher.
Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, David Hanshaw; daughter, Shelly Ballard of Charleston; sister, Barbara Goff of Charleston. Grandchildren, Haylie Blankenship, Lindsay Randolph and Chris and Ryan Oldaker. Great Granddaughter Madalyn Randolph, "the light of her life".
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and friends who also left to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday June 10, 2017 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Crist officiating. Burial will follow in Mace Cemetery, Elkview. Visitation with the family will be two hours prior to services also on Saturday.
